So before we get started, I would just like to say that I am not a make-up artist nor am I an expect in makeup but thought I would share with you how I achieved this glowing bronzed look which I think is just perfect for summer especially after you’ve caught a tan.
Now that we have the awkward disclosure out of the way; here are the steps I followed for this look. Hope you find it somewhat helpful.
Step 1: The Prep
So I always wear sunscreen even though some of my makeup products have SPF in them. I don’t put on a moisturiser on my face as I have oily sensitive skin and the sunscreen I use does pretty much the same job. I use the Solait Face Fluid SPF50 Sunscreen which is then followed by my primer from MAC, the Prep + Prime Skin Base Visage.
This primer has a bit of shimmer in it so it’s definitely perfect for that glowing look.
Step 2: The Base
I am one of those people that powder before foundation. I find that it helps minimise my pores and uneven skin tone which just makes my makeup look more flawless in my opinion. I used the MAC Studio FIX + Powder which is then followed by my Revlon Colourstay Foundation for combination/oily skin and the Sleek makeup Barekissed Illuminator in Pompeii.
The Sleek makeup Barekissed Illuminator is very much optional but it’s literally liquid gold for your skin, It definitely does what it says on the bottle and I highly recommend it.
Step 3: Highlight and Contour
This step is really the key for this look. You can use your favourite bronzer or contour powder for this step and apply it to your hairline, cheekbones, nose and jawline. I used the Sleek Makeup Contour kit in Dark and I especially like it for cheek and nose contouring.
You may have noticed that I haven’t mentioned concealers at all; I’m not really a fan of creamy products as my skin is very oily so I actually used a setting powder to highlight those areas of my face that I didn’t contour. I used the Sascha Buttercup Setting Powder under my eyes, on my chin, middle of my nose and my forehead. I like to use powder products to highlight and contour as they also help to set my base.
For the actual glow on my nose and cheeks, I used the Collection Bronze Glow Mosaic Powder in Sunkissed. This is such an inexpensive underrated product which I highly recommend for everyone to try. It will change your highlighting game.
Step 4: The Finishing Touches
To add a little colour to my face I used the Sleek Makeup Blush By 3 in Pumpkin Pie. And to bring the whole look together, I used the MAC Mineralize Skin Finish Natural in Dark Deep and set everything with my Urban Decay All Nighter Setting Spray
Eyes and Lips:
I haven’t included the eyes and lips in any of the steps above as I feel that you can do those at any time during your makeup application. I sometimes do my lips last and my eyes (including brows) after my base but I don’t think it really matters much to the overall look.
On my lips, I am wearing MAC Lip Liner in Chestnut and LA Girl Matte Flat Finish Pigment Gloss in Secret.
On my eyes, I have on the Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion followed by the L.A. Colours 4 Baked Eyeshadows in Galaxy, Rimmel London Soft Khol Eye Pencil in Black and Seventeen Falsifeye Blackest Black Mascara
Apologies that this post is a little long but I wanted it to be as detailed as possible incase anyone is interested in trying out this look or any of the products mentioned.
