Well that all changed recently when I entered a raffle for a charity event at work.
There were some pretty amazing prices but seeing as it was for a good cause after all, I saw no harm.
Of all the prizes, which included a hotel stay for 2, a wine hamper worth £40, a salon treatment etc., the only thing on there that caught my eye was a 2TB hard drive.
Verbatim 2TB Hard Drive (Retails for £90+)
Now if you are a blogger/content creator, you know how important it is to have storage space. My Macbook has already been notifying me to clear out some space, and deleting some of my saved content was just not an option.
Buying an external hard drive was not an option for me either as they really are not cheap. In a way, I felt as if I was setting myself up for a major disappointment if I didn’t win it as it was really something that I not only wanted but needed.
No one else could understand why I wanted the hard drive but I hoped and prayed that luck would be on my side.
As the prize draw began and I watched all the lucky ones win all the various other prizes, I could feel the disappointment slowly creeping in.
The announcer finally got to the 2TB hard drive & my heart was literally out of my chest, they picked up a ticket & called out the number, the next thing I know, I was screaming with my hands in the air like I just didn’t care (haha 😉) as they had just called my number.
All my colleagues were laughing at me and one of them even said that she had never ever seen anyone get so excited about a hard drive.
So why am I telling you this story, well I guess the moral of it all is that sometimes we have to take chances in life. We might get what we want, we might not, but if we don’t try then we have already accepted failure.
By entering the raffle, even though I knew I could possibly end up being disappointed, I gave myself a chance and as it turns out, I wasn’t disappointed.
Maybe it’s luck, maybe it’s wishful thinking, or an answered prayer, I don’t know, but whatever it is, it only works when you take a chance.
